I subscribe to Real Simple Magazine & i always love reading about creative, resourceful uses for things I already have... enjoy.

Rubber Bands

1. Open jars with ease. When a small lid won’t budge, wrap a rubber band around it several times to give you a better grip.

2. Decorate Easter eggs. Arrange rubber bands in a pattern around hard-boiled eggs, then dip them into dye. Remove the bands when the eggs are dry.

3. Bring order to your dishwasher. Tether stemware and other delicate, wobbly items to the rack.

4. Wrap a gift. Use multiple colored rubber bands instead of ribbon to add modern flair to a small present. (Particularly handy when you can’t find the tape.)

Toothpicks

5. Label meat. Are these burgers rare or well-done? They all look the same on the outside. Identify just-off-the-grill meats with different-colored toothpicks and they won’t get mixed up.

6. Find the end of the roll. When you’ve finished using tape, wrap the end around a toothpick so you can easily locate it the next time.

7. Glue beads and sequins. Use the sharp ends to apply teensy items to a craft project.

8. Sew a better button. Place a toothpick between the button and fabric so it doesn’t go on too tightly and end up tough to fasten.

9. Press a gadget’s Reset button. What fits perfectly into that tiny hole? You guessed it.

Salt

10. Clean up a cracked egg. Cover the mess with a handful of salt, then wipe up with ease.

11. Dust a wreath. Place a wreath of pinecones or faux evergreen in a paper bag with a 1/4 cup of salt. Fold the top of the bag over and gently shake.

12. Remove tea stains. Sprinkle salt on a lemon peel, then rub it on a tea-stained cup.

13. Shine brass and copper. Make a paste of a few tablespoons of white vinegar with equal parts salt and flour. Apply with a soft cloth, rinse, and dry.

Post-It Note

14. Clean a keyboard. Run the sticky side between the keys to collect crumbs and bits of lint.

15. Navigate the roads. Write directions on a note and stick it to the center of your steering wheel for quick reference.

16. Mark containers. Cut off the sticky zone and use it as an ersatz label for travel bottles so you don’t confuse your facial cleanser with your hair gel.

17. File away. Divide a pile of paper into sections using Post-it Notes as you would folder tabs.

18. Play tic-tac-toe. Use a sheet for each X and O. Peel them up and play again until they lose their stickiness.

Clear Nail Polish

19. Keep an eyeglass screw in place. If your specs are a bit wobbly, tighten the screws and top them with a dollop of polish.

20. Secure buttons. Apply a thin layer of polish to the center of a button to keep the thread from coming loose.

21. Avoid rust stains in the bathroom. Coat the bottom of a shaving-cream can to fend off rings on the ledge of the tub.

22. Seal an envelope. When a flap won’t stay stuck, find closure with clear polish.

23. Extend the life of jewelry. Paint a thin coat onto a costume bauble to prevent it from losing its luster.

So I have been philosophizing about romantic relationships lately; attempting to gain a realistic perspective.

Each person,in his or her own way, is a king or queen of their domain. When we seek a mate we essentially pick someone who will fit into our world well. Someone who meets our standards and who meets or has potential to meet our individual "greatness". Your individual greatness can be defined as what gives you your special edge.

I happen to believe that it is very rare to match greatness with another. Which led to the conclusion that 99% of relationships are bound to fail. I know this to be true because once I end up with the 1 person that fits, there will never be another. I wonder how many other people feel that way.

Its rare to find people whose actions match their words and even rarer to find ones whose words match their values and morals and whose values and morals match their feelings. And thus even rarer to find those whose feelings come from a wholesome place and match their heart. You rarely come across people who are in tune with themselves. And it is a waste of energy to engage in a relationship with someone out of tune. Kind of like how a car runs with no tune ups. You set yourself up for failure engaging with a person who is not in tune.

This makes me think that the best & most healthy approach is to only focus on friends & family, school & business. Those are the genuine relationships that seem to reciprocate.

Chicken Dip Recipe

I get frequent requests for this Dip. I've been "preposed to" over this dip. This is a Favorite and Definite Party Pleaser.

Ingredients:
1 bottle ranch or blue cheese salad dressing
1 cup buffalo wing sauce (hot, mild... your choice)
Hot sauce (optional) to taste
6-8 chicken breasts
16oz Cream Cheese (Philadelphia Chive is my recommendation)
Seasoning of choice

>Boil chicken breasts in large pot until cooked (season water)
>Mix dressing, buffalo sauce, hot sauce
>drain chicken, place in fridge to cool fast, preheat oven to 350
>Coat the bottom of Your (oven Safe) Serving bowl with cream cheese.
>Sprinkle cream cheese with seasoning of choice (optional)(onion salt)

>crumble chicken apart in strands and drop it into your buffalo dressing mix
-Mix well
>place chicken buffalo dressing mix over cream cheese and spread it out evenly
>drizzle hot sauce over top (optional)

place in oven for 30min. allow to cool and serve
my guests seem to prefer ranch.
Sometimes I add Crispy bacon to the mix as well.

If you have come to this blog it is because you have some type of interest in some aspect of my life. As most, I am multidimensional with lots of interests and abilities. I will use this space to post things that interest me. I am a senior at Old Dominion University double majoring in Human Services and Psychology. I intend on attending a graduate program at George Mason university to attain a master's in Social Work and eventually become a licensed clinical social worker.

I am in the start up process of a non profit called Arrows, which i am sure you will be hearing much more about. I am also currently in search of an internship that will add to my list of capabilities and further prepare me to run Arrows.

I song write, write poetry and rap on occasion. I have been published twice and I intend on publishing 3 books of poetry and four other books, which you will most likely hear more about as well. I am putting together a mixtape called "Learix & Lace the mixtape"... look out for that. Music is by far, my first love. My musical possibilities are endless.

I am on the verge of beginning many great ventures and I invite you to take this ride with me, adding to when you feel you can and taking from my experiences any lessons that you wish. I am new to blogging, so hang in there. I predict it will get better with time. =)
